University of British Columbia Museum of Anthropology and Botanical Garden
There will be two short 1/2 - day excursions, both of which will be offered twice: See one of the finest collections of Pacific Coast First Nations' art: old and new totem poles; silver, gold, wood and stone carving; weaving; and ceremonial dress. Then take a guided walk through the world famous Nitobe Memorial Garden and finish with a guided tour of the UBC Botanical Garden, one of the major research botanical gardens in North
America.

See how a major anthropology research center is digitizing images of all its holdings and discuss with the curators the problems of creating such images for use by the research and publishing communities. Then visit the museum's collections of Pacific Coast First Nations' art: old and new totem poles; silver, gold, wood and stone carving; weaving; and ceremonial dress. This tour will finish with guided walks through the Nitobe Memorial Garden, an authentic Japanese garden, and the UBC Botanical Garden, which is one of the major research botanical gardens in North America.
