CSE Member Testimonials
“How lucky am I? Back in 2004 my boss encouraged me to get involved with a professional organization in the editing/publishing world to complement my position as Director of Publications at the American Meteorological Society. I “shopped around.” After teaching a short course for the Council of Science Editors in Publications Management and interacting with the really fine, classy, intelligent, and dedicated people that I found at CSE I decided that I’d cast my volunteer lot with that organization. Over the past 8 years, as I have learned so much through what CSE has to offer and applied it to my own job and career, I realized that I wanted to get more involved. As current CSE President I guess I’ve succeeded on that score! Now I can’t imagine my career without CSE being an integral part of it.”

“CSE has been an incredible networking tool for me in the past several years as I have started my career in scientific editing. Joining a committee was the best way to get started, and I've met some amazing colleagues this way. For those considering becoming a member: you are guaranteed to get as much out of CSE as you put into it - get involved and the results are very rewarding!”

Managing Editor, Allen Press, Lawrence, KS
“CSE is the place to go to network with others in science editing, learn about new technologies, and keep abreast of trends in journal publishing. I haven’t missed an annual meeting in 17 years!”

“Domenic A. Fuccillo balances a “birdie” on his arm at the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.
A CSE Member since 1962, Dom used networking to obtain employment in scientific and technical editing. CSE service on committees over the years kept him in touch with editors in different fields and increased his knowledge and ability to perform various jobs.
Graduating in 1957 with an A.B. in biology and B.J. in journalism from the University of Missouri, he earned an M.A. in the same subjects in 1996, after retirement, at the University of Arkansas.”
