Submit Ideas for the 2023 CSE Annual Meeting in Toronto
Reflecting on Community: Opening Borders in Scholarly Publishing
Submission Deadline Extended to November 4, 2022
The CSE Program Committee wants to hear from you! To ensure all CSE members have a chance to provide input on educational content for CSE events, including conferences, webinars, and podcasts, we are pleased to welcome session proposals from all members. Session proposals will be accepted until November 4, 2022, at which point they will be reviewed by the CSE Program Committee and may be shared with the CSE Education and Professional Development Committees to be considered for development of non-conference events.
If your session is selected by the CSE Program Committee, you will become a session sponsor. Sponsors of selected sessions are responsible for working with a dedicated CSE Program Committee member to develop the session, help identify and secure speakers and a moderator, and determine a suitable session format. The sponsor may also choose to be a speaker and/or a moderator.
Sessions should aim to serve those in the scientific, scientific publishing, and information science communities and fit within at least one of the following broad categories: Editorial; Production; Business; Career Development; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI); Scholarly Publishing Industry; Ethics; Policy; or Other. CSE is particularly interested in topics that are timely, practical, and relevant to the membership.
Proposals should contain a specific description that includes clear learning objectives for attendees. For example, “How to set up a social media campaign for a special issue” would be evaluated more positively than “social media.” Suggested speakers should also be included; however, please note that you do not need to secure speakers before submitting a session proposal. General suggestions such as “Managing Editor at society journal” or “Product Specialist at Company X” are sufficient. Members are encouraged to review the latest CSE Annual Meeting, Fall Symposium, and webinar presentations to ensure the suggested topic has not recently been covered.
