The goal of CSE Connect is to support networking and connectivity among CSE members, while learning something new about a topic of interest. Events are held approximately once a month via Zoom.
From March 2020 to April 2021, CSE has hosted 11 events that have focused on various topics, such as freelancing, the CSE Mentorship Program, and preprints. These informational and fun sessions have drawn over 250 participants.
Every event is generally informal in nature and a friendly spot for networking with your colleagues in scholarly and scientific editing. We hope you’ll join us for future CSE Connect events!

Next Event: Changes to the Impact Factor
June 22, 2021 | 3:00-4:00 PM ET
The Impact Factor is one of the primary metrics many authors use when determining where to submit their research, sometimes even affecting the author’s promotion potential. Love it or hate it, the Impact Factor remains a critical metric for journals in many fields. Recently, Clarivate announced changes to how they would be calculating the Impact Factor, beginning with the 2020 and 2021 Impact Factor years. Lindsey Brounstein, Director of Publications at the American Gastroenterological Association, will discuss these new changes, how they’re expected to impact journals in the coming years, and ways to explain them to your editors. Glenn Landis, CSE Treasurer and Senior Director, Publishing, American Society of Hematology, will serve as moderator.
