Gender Diversity in Publishing Leadership
June 15 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Many statistics exist showing that the proportion of females in the workforce declines as role seniority increases, and scholarly publishing is no exception. The 2018 WE survey showed that men are nearly twice as likely to be in senior and exec management roles, despite more than 75% of our industry being female across the whole. Females face unique and often intersectional challenges as they move up the career ladder, some of which is inherent in society (unconscious biases), some of which is systematic (organisational policies and structures), but some is due to lack of representation/role models and perceived glass ceilings.
This webinar show delegates how they can practically introduce initiatives to address the societal and systemic barriers which may exist within their publishing organisations, and we’ll hear from individuals in leadership positions for their perspectives and how they’ve personally navigated these challenges.
It will relevant to anyone in a publishing-related role who has interest in increasing diversity within their organisations. The panel discussion between publishing leaders is aimed to inspire staff with career development ambitions to aspire to reach leadership positions and learn from the shared experiences.
There will be plenty of time for Q&A from the audience
Post webinar networking
The webinar will be followed by an informal networking half hour, over a virtual cup of coffee. We will will share the link with attendees on the day.
