It is hard to believe that summer is already wrapping up. As I get my kids ready to go back to school, I have been following up on all the scribbles on business cards and notes tossed in my pocket from some of the great conversations I had at our Annual Meeting in May.
With the last Annual Meeting still fresh on my mind, I turn my attention to the 2016 Annual Meeting in Denver. The Program Committee, led by Dana Compton and Carissa Gilman, is already forming topics and brainstorming speakers. Stay tuned for the big reveal of our 2016 theme.
I am excited to go to Denver for the first time and I am looking forward to new faces at the Annual Meeting. One way that CSE brings new people to the meeting is through the CSE Scholarship Program. The scholarship covers registration and travel expenses for people to attend CSE. If you are interested or know someone who would benefit, applications are due by September 21.
Speaking of the scholarship, these opportunities are available thanks to the generous donations of our members and sponsors. When you renew your member dues later this year, please consider a donation to the scholarship fund.
Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and make sure to check out the upcoming webinars. I guess we could all use a little “going back to school” in the coming weeks

Must-See Upcoming Webinars
Registration is now open for the next CSE webinar, with more on the way this fall and winter:
September 10, 2015
Taking Author Instructions to the Next Level
Author instructions can often seem forbidding, and many readers fail to grasp the most important points when it comes to preparing a submission. When instructions are excessively long or text-heavy, authors may not bother to read them at all, causing problems down the line. In this webinar, the speakers will discuss ways to structure author guidelines effectively and describe alternative means to convey information about journal policies and processes that they have created.
