On behalf of the Board and the CSE Nominating Committee, we are pleased to announce the newly elected members to the Board. We extend our thanks to all who ran and to our membership for participating in the vote.
I hope you have thawed out. Spring is almost here. I hear San Antonio is nice in the spring! Read further for some interesting activities the program committee has planned for our May meeting.
With the wild winter that has plagued us for seemingly way too long, I can honestly say that spring cannot get here soon enough. But for more of a reason than just better weather, the CSE Annual Meeting is entering the final stages of program development and the schedule will be made public soon.
It’s tough being relevant. Associations and societies need to stay relevant, we need to be where people are, as opposed to assuming they will find us, and we need to be useful and provide tailored information. If you aren’t in someone’s online workflow, forget it!
I’m excited to announce this month our keynote and plenary speakers for the 2014 CSE annual meeting.
The end of the year is almost here. I’m still having trouble comprehending this! I do hope that all of you have a productive push towards what I hope is a holiday break at the end of 2013.
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, The CSE website houses many useful resources. If you missed a webinar, you can find it online. Sample correspondence? Got it. Instructions for Authors’ checklist? Ditto. We want to ensure members and potential new members can find the information that they need, as well as communicate clearly that CSE […]
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, Summer is over and business is booming. I’m so happy our membership committee has our call out for scholarship applications for the 2014 CSE Annual Meeting. I’ve just returned from the Seventh Peer Review Congress and that feeling of wow, there is so much to discuss and think about […]
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, This newsletter includes some updates from our very busy committees-great things are happening. I’m also happy to announce that CSE is launching a Marketing Task Force. The board approved this Task Force last fall and the process was finalized in the spring. The mission of this Task Force is […]
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer. Summer means good times and friends and maybe not as much work, but let’s not kid ourselves — the work never seems to slow down. Juggling as many bowling pins as possible is probably what keeps us in the business. We […]
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, Congratulations to the 2013 Program Committee, chaired by Tony Alves and Michael Friedman. We had great attendance and a very successful meeting. We had almost 400 attendees and 13 countries were represented including: Canada, France, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Norway, Pakistan, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, Ukraine, and USA. From the […]
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, As I returned home from the “high” that resulted from the very successful Annual Meeting in beautiful Montreal, Canada, I thought about the daunting task of trying to summarize the past year in a single, short column. The following is what emerged from that process. I knew I would […]
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, As it is just a mere 3 weeks before the CSE Annual Meeting in Montreal, you are probably thinking that this column is going to consist of some shameless organizational self-promotion about how incredible the conference is going to be and to exhort those of you who have not […]
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, Most people I know (especially my preteen kids) cannot understand my passion for editing. I love doing it! But when vocation becomes avocation and spills into other areas of life it can become a problem. I have found that I cannot read a book for pleasure, a newspaper, magazine, […]
Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends, Have you checked out the CSE LinkedIn page? This is a great way to network electronically, to post questions and start discussions with colleagues. A recent string on that site brought up an important topic: “The value and importance of scholarly publishing (vs. conferences) in the success and advancement […]
