February 2019

Dear CSE Colleagues,

Anna Jester, CSE President

I love it when a project plan comes together. Each CSE Annual Meeting is a direct result of the Program Committee’s efforts. The 2019 program carries on the tradition of thought-provoking sessions and includes some brand-new experiences, not the least of which is the option to join a guided yoga class on Tuesday morning (and leave with your own yoga mat). CSE will offer a new Short Course in 2019, Advanced Publication Management. Additionally, the 2019 CSE Scholarship recipients have been announced. Congratulations to Christine Melchione, Anip Joshi, and Kayla Zehr! The 2019 meeting theme is The Spirit of Scientific Publishing: Inclusion, Identity, Technology, & Beyond and I look forward to seeing you May 4-7 in Columbus, OH.

Have you been waiting for a Short Course to be held on a Friday? If so, you’ll be delighted to know the CSE Short Course on the Road: Publication Management is being held March 22, 2019 in Durham, NC.

CSE does not distribute “I Voted!” stickers, but members are casting votes for incoming Vice President, Secretary, and Director at Large. Be on the lookout for results to be announced in the coming weeks. And be sure to vote!

Being a CSE Member includes a number of benefits and perks. The International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) is offering CSE members a 10% registration discount to their 15th Annual Meeting in April. Use the discount code AM15CSE10 to take advantage (applies to Early Bird pricing until February 28 and Standard pricing until March 27).

As always, the latest CSE comings and goings are available via social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) and our listserv (csel@lists.lists.resourcenter.net).

I value input from CSE members. If you have a question, suggestion, or a comment, please feel free to contact me.

All the best,

Anna Jester, CSE President

Still Time to Submit Your 2019 Poster Abstract!

Have you noticed some interesting or disturbing trends in your publications? Do you have insightful survey data? Or, do you have a research question about science publishing that you can put to the test? If so, don’t miss the opportunity to prepare a poster for the 2019 meeting.

Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts describing their editorial research for presentation in the CSE 2019 Poster Session. Content must be original, and individuals submitting abstracts must ensure that they will be able to attend the CSE meeting should their poster be accepted. Abstracts for posters will be reviewed by the CSE Research Committee, blinded to the identity of the submitter. Submitters will be notified by March 4 whether their poster has been accepted.

The submission deadline is February 22. Submit your abstract today!
