CSE Members, it’s tough being relevant. Associations and societies need to stay relevant, we need to be where people are, as opposed to assuming they will find us, and we need to be useful and provide tailored information.
If you aren’t in someone’s online workflow, forget it! I read recently that Amazon was founded 20 years ago (1994). I officially feel old. Millennials have always known Amazon and the Internet. We have certainly strived to stay relevant, but if you have any thoughts on the matter drop us an email! This is also a long-winded way of saying if you are on our LinkedIn group, you probably know we’ve had a spot of difficulty with SPAM lately. We think we have it fixed and we apologize for the hassle, do let us know if you continue to have difficulties. If you don’t belong to the LinkedIn group, know it’s a great place to throw out questions, about anything. Someone usually has an answer
Attention: All CSE Members
The Publications Committee is working to update the Books Written and Edited by CSE Members page and we need your help. If you have authored, coauthored, or edited a book that is not already listed and that would be of interest to the CSE community, please send the complete citation information (including a URL, if available) to Lindsey Buscher.
Call for 2014 Poster Abstracts – February 3 Deadline!
Have you noticed some interesting or disturbing trends in your publications, do you have insightful survey data, or do you have a research question about science publishing that you can put to the test? If so, don’t miss the opportunity to prepare a poster for the 2014 CSE Annual Meeting or for future CSE meetings. And don’t forget that a research project is a requirement for the new CSE Certificate in Publication Management.
CSE members and meeting attendees are encouraged to submit abstracts describing their editorial research for presentation in the CSE 2014 Poster Session. Content must be original and individuals submitting abstracts must ensure that they will be able to attend the CSE meeting should their poster be accepted. Abstracts for posters will be reviewed by the CSE Research Committee, blinded to the identity of the presenter. Submitters will be notified whether their poster has been selected by March 1, 2014.
Best to all,
Heather Goodell, CSE President
