January 2018

Dear CSE Colleagues,

Happy New Year! I hope that your 2018 is off to a tremendous start. Rather than making resolutions for the New Year, I like to focus on goals. For me, that means learning to bake yeast breads (putting my fancy biology degrees to work!) and getting back into yoga, which I have put aside for the past several years. For CSE, I have some goals that I’d like to achieve, too. I’d like to see our membership base continue to grow; we’ve grown to over 800 members now, but wouldn’t it be great if we could grow to 900 or even 1,000 members? To me, that kind of growth of new members (and retention of current members) indicates that what we are doing is valuable – whether it’s webinars, white papers, or our fantastic short courses.

Did you know that we have an ongoing member get a member campaign and ways for your organization to support CSE? Of course, attending our annual meeting goes hand-in-hand with membership – our annual meeting is one of the prime benefits that our members cite as why they join. The past few annual meetings have had attendance right around 400 people. Wouldn’t it be great if we could grow that by 10% this year? I know that our meeting in New Orleans is going to be fantastic, and I hope you’ll consider attending!

2017 was a banner year for CSE. You can check out our highlights for yourself, and see how CSE can make a difference in your career. Of course, none of these accomplishments would have happened without our dedicated volunteers and staff – a special shout out to all of our committee members, our board of directors, our executive director, Tim Bennett, and our account manager, Andrew Van Wasshnova. Their dedication to CSE is apparent in all that we do, and I’m grateful for their continued service.

Best wishes for a prosperous 2018.
