Dear CSE Members, Colleagues, and Friends,
I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer. Summer means good times and friends and maybe not as much work, but let’s not kid ourselves — the work never seems to slow down. Juggling as many bowling pins as possible is probably what keeps us in the business. We would not want to be bored!
The 2014 program planning committee has been hard at work developing the program for next year’s meeting in San Antonio. I am happy to announce that we have a theme that we can run with: 4D Publishing: Data, Decision, Difference, and Direction! We are confronted from every direction with data (Big Data! Open Data! Give me your data!), from which we may or may not have to make decisions, decisions that we hope will make a difference. A difference that can lead us to new and improved directions in scholarly publishing! An exciting program is already shaping up.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any session ideas, other suggestions, or if you are interested in serving on the committee. It’s not too late to get involved, work with fellow CSE members, and contribute to the success of the annual meeting. Another way to be involved is to plan to attend! We hope you can join us next May in San Antonio, Texas!
Have a great summer.
Best to all,
Heather Goodell, CSE President
