Tis the season to send and receive autoresponders. I hope you have a few days to relax as the year draws to a close. It has been a fantastically busy year for CSE including, but not limited to, Short Courses, the Annual Meeting, the Publication Certificate Program, and Webinars.
I hope your July is going well and has included a few moments of relaxation. Here in the Washington, DC area we’ve had sizzling temperatures and frequent reminders that conserving energy during the warmest times of the day is always appreciated.

As August turns to September, I’m thinking about all of the people who are going back to school- from the very earliest learners to graduate students.
Greetings from sunny Washington D.C., where life takes on a slower rhythm in the summertime. During this time, I enjoy many evenings on our deck, contemplating life and planning for the future. It’s so easy to get lost in the “what can we do” and overlook the “what is.”

Technical and Copy Editors Wanted! The Council of Science Editors has a very long history of including copy editors and technical editors among our members. While there are certainly other organizations that serve this core group, CSE affords them an opportunity to network and collaborate with science editors, managing editors, publishers, and publishing technology experts.
To everything there is a season (turn, turn, turn). April not only brings the return of baseball, dandelions in the yard, and a steady diet of annual meetings and conferences – it’s also the time of year when we announce our newly elected members to the CSE Board of Directors.
