The focus of this two-session event is peer reviewers and how publishers recognize, thank, and reward those who review manuscripts for their journals. The first session looks at various publishers’ reviewer recognition programs, and the second keys in on how publishers have implemented depositing reviewer credit to ORCID and Publons.
Session 1: Do Peer Review Rewards Programs Work: An Overview/Discussion of Three Different Programs

Many publishers have peer reviewer recognition programs covering the gamut of benefits including discounts on membership, free swag and more. Do these programs work? Do they help grow the reviewer pool or help retain good reviewers? What is the value add from publisher peer review training and certification? Does providing CME credit as a benefit work to attract and retain good reviewers?

Session 2: Providing Public Credit for Peer Review – Programs with ORCID and Publons

In this session we will hear from publishers who are providing reviewers with public acknowledgement of their contributions. Speakers will talk about their experiences setting up programs that deposit credits to the ORCID and Publons databases on behalf of reviewers. How are these programs working? What kind of feedback has there been from reviewers?
