CSE Connect

The goal of CSE Connect is to support networking and connectivity among CSE members while learning something new about a topic of interest. Events are held approximately every other month.

Every event is generally informal in nature and a friendly spot for networking with your colleagues in scholarly and scientific editing. We hope you’ll join us for future CSE Connect events! CSE Connect events are free and open to both members and non-members.

Do you have an idea for a future event? Click here to send us your proposed topic. Interested in partnering with CSE? Learn more about your opportunities here.

Data Story: Explaining Data and Inspire Action Through Story – Nancy Duarte
October 11, 2023 at 1:00pm ET

Whether presenting the latest journal metrics or trying to get approval on a new product, data helps to tell the story. But do your PowerPoint presentations tell that story? Or are they just a collection of charts and graphs leaving the audience to fill the gaps with their own story?

The “Data Story” book walks readers through how to use a traditional story arc to get your point across. The book is chock full of tips and tricks to keep your audience on the edge of their seats.
This will be an interactive book club session lead by Angela Cochran, VP of Publishing, at ASCO. Participants can take a typical presentation or report and apply some of the techniques for a show and share. As we compare traditional slides to the new slides, we will discuss as a group which changes were most impactful. Worried about sharing data from your presentations? Just swap out the data for fake numbers.
Join us and take your PowerPoint game to the next level. Register Here
